Capt. Paul D. Drouin
Before his work as an accident investigator, Paul enjoyed a 20 year career with the Canadian Coast Guard. During his tenure as a senior officer and Master he acquired substantial experience in ice navigation as well as ship manoeuvring and pilotage in restricted waters. His ship-board experience was complemented by several years as Regional Marine Superintendent with the Canadian Coast Guard before starting his marine accident investigation career.
With over a decade as a marine accident investigator with the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB), Capt. Drouin has acquired extensive experience in all manner of marine investigations including groundings, fires/explosions, collisions and vessel related fatalities. He has attended IMO, is a regular contributor to the Nautical Institute's Seaways magazine and is Editor of the Mariners' Alerting and Reporting Scheme, The Nautical Institute's confidential reporting scheme.
Paul is a contributing author for Lloyd's Maritime Academy's (LMA) Diploma in Marine Investigation as well as LMA's Certificate in Maritime Safety Management.
Capt. Drouin is Principal of SafeShip.ca. He is a graduate of the Canadian Coast Guard College, is a Master Mariner and a Fellow of The Nautical Institute.
